Thankful for a quiet holiday weekend
They do so locally and around the state.
Memorial Day made May the most deadly month on Louisiana highways last year.
We worry when drawing up plans to admonish the community for safety that they are unheeded, like a mother reminding a teen of their curfew as they rush out the door to their post-graduation bonanza of choice.
Those mothers wait the night through, counting the minutes as time marches toward the designated curfew.
When the teen heeds his or her mother, coming home early or at least on time, safe and sound, there is seldom a greater joy for that worried adult.
