Ex-Tech star pleased with ‘Pro Day’ performance

DAVIS- While several representatives from National Football League teams watching on, former Louisiana Tech University star Quinton Patton does what he does best during a “Pro Day” event at Joe Aillet Stadium on Tuesday: catch the football. Patton, who totaled 104 receptions for 1,392 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2012, is due to be a high pick in the NFL’s late spring draft.

Quinton Patton was in his usual comedy skit routine at Joe Aillet Stadium Tuesday afternoon.

He clowned around with former Louisiana Tech University teammates, grabbed a Shreveport television announcer’s microphone and began ad-libbing to anyone who would listen and urged a sportswriter to ask when big offensive lineman Jordan Mills was going to get his next pedicure.

Vintage Patton, to be sure.

But when instructed to go through a plethora of drills and tests on the school’s annual “Pro Day,” he was as serious and focused as a NASA engineer studying soil samples from Mars.
