Blucas, Belgard unite in matrimony

Melanie Page Blucas and Christopher Scott Belgard, both of Baton Rouge, were united in holy matrimony in a 6 p.m. ceremony March 9 at Broadmoor Baptist Church in Baton Rouge. The double-ring ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Jeffrey Flint, of Bellingham, Wash., and Bro. Johnny Morgan, of Denham Springs.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Paul Blucas, of Ruston, and she is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Louis Pullig and the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter Blucas.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Richard Belgard, of Kentwood, and Mr. and Mrs. Carl James Gaudin, of Denham Springs. He is the grandson of Mr. James Truman Belgard, of Ball, the late Mrs. Jimmie Belgard, Mrs. Everett Alexander, of Denham Springs, late Mr. Alexander, and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur James Harris, of Baton Rouge.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a gown in an oyster tone by Essence of Australia, which featured a trumpet silhouette, sweetheart neckline and chapel length train. The waistline was accentuated with a crystal and pearl appliquéd ivory satin sash, and her scalloped fingertip veil was adorned with crystal and pearl edging. The bride wore pink peek-a-boo pumps with rhinestone embellishments.

The bride carried a bouquet of light pink dahlias and ranunculus, blush garden roses and soft pink anemones tied in satin ribbon and lace from her mother's wedding bouquet. Nestled inside was a tiny bluebird of happiness used in both her mother's and aunt's bridal bouquets.
Melissa Meadors Belgard, sister-in-law of the groom, of Denham Springs, and Kristin Casey Marler, friend of the bride, of Baton Rouge, both served as matrons of honor. Serving as bridesmaids were Magen Elise Letson, of West Monroe, Emily Kylin McGee, of Monroe, Lindsey Hill Cotton, of Baton Rouge, Sara Elizabeth Sumrall, of Baker, and Pamela Lauren Christian, of Long Beach, Calif.

The bridesmaids wore Alfred Angelo floor-length one-shoulder gowns of charcoal chiffon and carried bouquets of blush garden roses, light pink ranunculus and soft pink anemones.
Brothers of the groom, Joshua Lee Belgard and Casey Reed Belgard, both of Denham Springs, served as best men. Serving as groomsmen were Breland Edward Booth, of Birmingham, Ala., Bobby Boyce Moore, of Denham Springs, Dallas Lee Wright, of Baton Rouge, Brandon David Craft, of Baton Rouge, and Joel Brooks White, of Denham Springs.

Phillip Stephen Blucas, brother of the bride, of Baton Rouge, and Brent Wayne Causey and Brandon Carrol Sutherland, friends of the bride, both of Ruston, served as ushers.
Cousins of the bride, Jordan Haley Flint and Jadyn Kinsley Flint, both of Flower Mound, Texas, served as flower girls.

Sarah Renee White, sister of the groom, served as reader, while Josie Brianne Belgard and Lainey Renee White, nieces of the groom, served as guest book attendants.

Music was provided by organist Francisco Silva and vocalist Brooke Cousino.

Mr. and Mrs. John Richard Belgard and Mr. and Mrs. Carl James Gaudin hosted a rehearsal supper on March 8 at La Carreta Mexican Restaurant in Baton Rouge.

After the ceremony, a reception was held at De La Ronde Hall and catered by Drakes.
Leading up to the ceremony, several showers were held in the couple’s honor.

On Jan. 26, at the home of Wanda Shelby in Ruston, a brunch was hosted by Kay Lynn Tettleton, Sandi Adams, Susie Polk, Linda Archer, Cathy Judd, Salli Alexander and Wanda Shelby.

A miscellaneous shower was given Jan. 27 at the home of Bobette Banks in Ruston and was hosted by Alice Gibson, JoAnn Barr, Helen Baxter, Marty Alsup, Nancy Giesse, Penny Humphries, Diane Hilton, Carolyn Russell, Susan Hilton, Judi Null and Bobette Banks.

A couples’ shower was hosted by members of the wedding party on Feb. 9 at the home of Judy and Carl Gaudin in Denham Springs.

On Feb. 23, at the home of Kristin Marler in Baton Rouge, a lingerie shower was hosted by Kristin Marler and Melissa Belgard.

A bachelor party hosted by the groomsmen was held in New Orleans the weekend of Feb. 23-24.

After a honeymoon to Cancun, Mexico, the couple will reside in Baton Rouge.
