Company representatives told the transition team what they would like to see happen in the state and what they need to succeed here. Skains said although there were no complaints made about the political environment, the businesses’ main issues were the need for a more-educated workforce, lower taxes and better energy prices.
“We’re always looking for new businesses, but we don’t put much emphasis on retaining the small or large businesses we already have in place,” he said. “A business already here is more likely to stay, because they have ties to the community.”
