Bush’s veto threatens Sparta funds

Democrats and Republicans in Congress have pledged to override Bush’s veto, which is good news. However, it is discouraging to see the president’s lack of support for an important bill like the WRDA.

Those leading the effort to develop an alternative source of drinking water for north Louisiana have struggled to secure every penny of funding for their research. The promise of $2 million in federal funds not only would pay for valuable testing and studies, it would open the door for future funding for the initiative to protect the Sparta Aquifer.
