Earlier this month fifth grade students from Lincoln, Union and Bienville Parish schools spent the day at Lincoln Parish Park learning about water conservation, where water comes from and the importance of the Sparta Aquifer.
Lindsay Gouedy, education coordinator for the Louisiana Sparta Groundwater Commission, said the fifth graders learned about quantifying water, water pollution, water conservation and much more.
Having opened their doors a few weeks previously, My Happy Place Vintage Market celebrated their grand opening on Friday at their location on Louisiana Highway 33 in Ruston.
“It’s not an uncommon concept to do the different spaces rented by different people,” she said. “You are able to fill a store with merchandise and it comes together really quickly without headache, especially a store like this that has a vintage vibe.”
While most of the items in the store are made by hand by local individuals, there are also furniture and boutique items, she said.
