Donald Ray Hoenke
Donald Ray Hoenke, age 68 died unexpectedly Thursday, December 20, 2012 the result of a heart attack incurred while helping a stranger fix a flat tire. To those who knew him know that Donnie was a faithful friend, compassionate even to strangers, and there for anyone in need. He grew up in Fryberg, Louisiana to parents Nellie Fay Hoenke and Arthur Edward Hoenke. His parents and sister Kay Culpepper preceded him in death.
Don was a proud alumni of Louisiana Tech University where he graduated with a degree in education. After he graduated he began his distinguished career working at the Ruston State school and finished his career as Regional Director for Louisiana Vocational Rehabilitation Services in Shreveport.
Don grew up hunting and fishing in Bienville, Parish. He was a great outdoors man and loved to spend time in the woods or on the water enjoying the beauty of nature. Lake Bistineau was one of his favorite placed to be. Even if the fish weren’t biting he still enjoyed being on the lake and taking in the sights.
Don is survived by his wife Ina, his brother Bobby Hoenke and sister June Hall. He was also survived by two children from a previous marriage, Gina and Clark Hoenke, and his two step children Chris Poindexter and Amy Woodman. He was also survived by and blessed with two very special grandchildren, Jaden Poindexter and Finley Woodman.
A memorial service will be held Thursday evening, December the 27, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Arcadia.
