Lana Kay Cooksey Harrell
Funeral services for Mrs. Lana Kay Cooksey Harrell (Kay), age 60 of Stonewall will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Salem United Methodist Church in Dubach with Rev. Bryan Prucey officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery in Dubach under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.
Mrs. Harrell was born in Shreveport on October 11, 1952 to Homer B. Cooksey and Betty Jean Dryer Cooksey. She died in Shreveport November 30, 2012 after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Harrell was a bus driver for Caddo Parish Schools for many years. She was a member of Elm Grove Baptist Church in Elm Grove. In her spare time, Mrs. Harrell enjoyed hunting, fishing, keeping her yard immaculate and being outdoors in general. She also enjoyed watching LSU football. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Harrell is survived by her husband of 39 years: Donnie Harrell; two sons: Danny Harrell and wife Mandy of Stonewall and Dustin Harrell and wife Tasheena of Fort Walton Beach, FL; three grandchildren: Macy Harrell, Page Harrell and Deacon Skinner; her brothers and sisters: Linda and husband Fred Wright, Bonnie and husband David Beason, Vernon Cooksey and wife JoAnn, Jeff Cooksey and wife Michelle, Kenneth Cooksey and wife Allison and Scott Cooksey and wife Teresa: father and mother-in-law: Billy Joe Harrell and Estelle Harrell of Dubach; sister-in-law: Dell Wood of Dubach; brother-in-laws: Jerry Harrell and Francis of Shreveport and Bobby Harrell and Ann of Dubach as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be her nephews: Randy Wright, Matt Beason, Brian Cooksey, Tristan Cooksey, Jeffrey Cooksey, Alex Cooksey, Corey Cooksey, Philip Wood, Mark Wood and Aaron Wood. Visitation will be held at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Saturday, December 1, 2012. The family would like to extend their thanks to the physicians and nurses at Willis-Knighten Pierremont and LSU Medical Center Bone Marrow Transplant Center as well as to the church family at Elm Grove Baptist Church for their love and support.
