I can sense the holiday season approaching. Everything seems to be getting done in a hurry-up frenzy and all of the stores are packed with shoppers filling their carts with soon to be delicious dinners, desserts and treats. But the true mark of the season is the appearance of blooming plants that are members of the cactus family. The Thanksgiving cactus (Schlumbergera truncate), the Christmas cactus (Schlumbergera bridgesii) and the Easter cactus (Rhipsalidopsis gaetneri) are similar and most people call these the Christmas cactus.
