Jury tables 4-mill fire tax
The savings are secondary to the true motivation, Ford said.
“I’m looking to have a progressive fire department, not a regressive one,” Ford said. “We’re here to ensure the safety of the parish.”
The millage would generate about $444,000 annually, Ford said, and he anticipates the revenue would allow the district to tack on another five to 10 firefighters.
The need is there, Ford said, and the district needs to realize the services offered by firefighters have expanded.
