The money, Carpenter explained, will fund the addition of two new sewer pump stations and about 11,000 feet of new sewer piping for the Mt. Olive area in Grambling.

The USDA funds are split between a $933,000 loan and a grant of $774,575. The town must also pony up about $4,500 for the work to the Mt. Olive sewer.

“The money is limited to work on sewer projects within the town of Grambling,” Carpenter said.

“If there is grant money left over (from the Mt. Olive project), Grambling can keep it to spend on sewer projects (as they arise). But the goal is to spend every penny.”
