Life on Chautauqua Road
Like the old Brooks and Dunn song, I, too, had my own “Red Dirt Road” growing up in Ruston. I was not old enough to have “wrecked my first car” or “drunk my first beer” on Chautauqua Road, before it was paved, but I can remember when it was red dirt.
I have lived on Chautauqua for 53 of my 64 years on this earth. Sometimes as I walk to my mailbox I wonder if I could find traces of years past, if the asphalt were peeled back.
