Funeral services for Maxine Walker Moore will be held Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden. Officiating will be Rev. Dale Oden and Rev. Bill Ichter. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Minden. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.

Maxine was born January 29, 1924 and went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 7, 2012 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was a resident of Minden for over fifty years, but had resided in Ruston for the past four years. Maxine was graduate of Shongaloo High school and LA Tech University; she was a retired school teacher touching many lives as a fourth grade teacher at Stewart Elementary in Minden. A faithful member of First Baptist Church in Minden and then Temple Baptist Church when she moved to Ruston, she was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, a lifetime member of the American X-POWs, and served in many capacities in her church.

Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of fifty-two years, James Billy Moore; two brothers, Delmar Walker and Truman Walker.

She is survived by her son Jimmy Moore and wife Glenda of Longview, Texas; Rachel Moore Sibley and husband Cecil of Ruston; her grandchildren who called her Nonna: Shannon Sibley Dark and husband David of Natchitoches; Erin Sibley Plunkett and husband Tony of West Monroe; Brandon Moore and wife Amy of Hallsville, Texas. Great-grandchildren: Dalton, Carley, and Grant Dark; Ethan and Emory Plunkett; Mason, Madison, and Brayleigh Moore. Sister-in-law Nona Rea Walker of Baton Rouge; sister-in-law and childhood friend Lavinia Walker of Minden. One niece and six nephews.
