’Dogs (5-0) rip Rebels
Louisiana Tech University’s 1972 team could identify with the modern-day Bulldogs’ performance on Saturday night.
That legendary squad, which had a 12-0 record and captured a National Football Foundation college division crown, was honored during halftime ceremonies at Joe Aillet Stadium.
Then an estimated 30 players off of the Maxie Lambright-guided ’72 unit sat back and enjoyed the way the ’Dogs dismantled the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, much in the same manner that they delivered knockout punches during the only perfect season in the program’s history.
Tech (5-0) roped the Rebels 58-31 in front of approximately 23,000 fans, marking the first time in three tries that the Bulldogs had ever defeated the Mountain West Conference-affiliated squad.
