On Sept 27, 2012, Johnnie Ruth Milner Nealy, our sweet angel of a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother left this world to be with her Heavenly Father.

She was a native of Pleasant Hill, LA where she met and married her husband of 63 years, the late O. F. “Dick” Nealy. She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Dicky Nealy and wife, Marcia,; daughter, Debbie Nealy Click and husband Gerry; Grandchildren, Cass Nealy and Shelly Nealy Edgerton and husband Edwin and four beautiful great-grandchildren, Taylor Nealy, Ella Nealy, Abby Edgerton and Win Edgerton, her sister Mary Sue Hilliard, three nephews and one niece. Her brother, Bob Milner preceded her in death.

Johnnie served faithfully in her church and showed her love for others through her wonderful cooking, especially her biscuits. She loved to sew and if you were lucky, you were the recipient of one of her beautiful memory quilts. Johnnie’s house on Brewster Street was a welcoming retreat for all, both young and old, friend or stranger. Her mission in life was one of sacrifice – of loving and giving—Always thinking of others first. She had an unforgettable smile and a kind word for everyone she met. We will miss her loving ways and our memories of her we will cherish forever.

Special thanks to the wonderful nurses and caregivers over these last few years at Ruston Nursing and Rehab and The Arbor assisted living center. Because of her love for animals, memorials may be sent to 4 Paws Rescue of Ruston or to the charity of your choice.
Funeral services will be 2PM Monday, October 12, 2012 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Ruston with Dr. Michael Hawley officiating. Burial will follow in Pines Memorial Gardens under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel of Ruston. Visitation will be Monday from 12:30PM until 2PM service time at the church.
