Mosquitoes in city negative for WNV

Two residents infected, bug tests to continue through October

Despite two local human cases of West Nile Virus — one inside the Ruston municipal limits — this year, no mosquitoes to date have tested positive for WNV within the city.

Kellie Lowery, Delta Regional director for Vector Disease Control International, said around three mosquito samples were submitted to a lab at Louisiana State University last week to be tested. She has learned that all tested negative.
