School board enters third-year deficit
The Lincoln Parish School Board begins a third consecutive year with a deficit, which Business Manager George Murphy said could get them a negative mark by the state.
The board voted unanimously to approve the budget at last week’s regularly scheduled school board meeting. The beginning budget will include $66,641,585 in revenues and $67,872,539 in expenditures. This creates a deficit of $1,230,954, leaving the ending fund balance at $32,628,556 in reserves. Murphy said that $16,134,152 is the amount of that which is unreserved, undedicated fund balances.
