Aclin, Gemelli unite in matrimony
Emily Elizabeth Aclin and James Bernard Gemelli, both of Shreveport, were united in holy matrimony on Aug. 25 at First United Methodist Church in Shreveport. The six o’clock ceremony was officiated by Pat Day.
The bride is the daughter of William Kenneth and Connie Aclin, of Shreveport. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Roy Aclin and the late Mr. William Roy Aclin and the late Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Quade.
The groom is the son of Bernard and Becky Gemelli Jr. of Ruston. He is the grandson of Mrs. James C. Jones, Mrs. Bernard Gemelli Sr. and the late Mr. James C. Jones and Mr. Bernard Gemelli Sr.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an elegant Casablanca gown of champagne satin and candlelight English netting. The strapless bodice was enhanced with alencon lace, diamond sequins, rhinestones and crystal beading. A satin cummerbund accentuated the waistline above the English netting skirt.
Lindsay Gosslee Langford, of Indianapolis, Ind., served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids included Nicole Vlasis Aclin, sister-in-law of the bride, of Little Rock, Lauren Sessions Brimer, cousin of the bride, of Haughton; Sarah Council Burford, of Grand Cane, Julie Haddox Davis, of West Monroe, Miranda Gemelli Gashel, sister of the groom, of Ruston, and Sarah Popwell Schoolfield, of North Richland Hills, Texas. Amanda Meier Hooper served as the honored attendant. McKenzie Leigh Gemelli, daughter of the groom, served as flower girl.
Robert Fields Shadoin, cousin of the groom, of Ruston, served as best man. Groomsmen included William Scott Aclin, brother of the bride, of Little Rock, Ark., Daniel Kyle Allen, of New Orleans, Heath Daniel Chapman, of Shreveport, Eric James Gashel, brother-in-law of the groom, of Ruston, Richard Paul Grisso Jr., of Shreveport, Trevor Charles Gnemi, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Clinton Hardy Lebrun, of Shreveport. William Scott Aclin Jr., nephew of the bride, served as ring bearer. He was joined by his brother Benjamin Robert Aclin and Camden Reece Gashel, nephew of the groom.
Floral designer was Jemi Adcock. The bride’s bouquet of ivory and peach roses showcased a family heirloom gold locket and chain. The wedding necklace has been worn by family brides in their weddings since 1881, when her great-great grandmother received it as a wedding gift from her groom on their wedding day.
Musical selections were performed by harpist Brook Boddie, organist Ray Peebles and vocalist Aaron Wilson.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at The Petroleum Club with Caravan providing musical entertainment.
Prior to the ceremony, Bernard and Becky Gemelli hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Eldorado in Shreveport.
Following their honeymoon to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, the couple will reside in Shreveport.
