Students begin their first day of school at Glen View Elementary School, one of the four Ruston elementary schools that is seeing significant changes this year.

Lincoln Parish schools began classes today with a half day.

Students and teachers face a great deal of changes this year, ranging from curriculum to school placement and schedule.

Some students in elementary school will see the new Common Core State Standards go live, as kindergarten and first grades are required to use the new curriculum this year.
