THE VILLAGE OF SIMSBORO MONTHLY TOWN HALL MEETING MINUTES MONDAY, JULY 2, 2012
The Village of Simsboro met in regular session Thursday, July 2, 2012 at 6:00 P. M. Council members present were Alderman Pam Durrett and Alderman Doug Durrett. Alderman Tiffany Cole was absent. Mayor Hendricks called the meeting to order. Alderman Pam Durrett voiced the prayer. Mayor Hendricks led in the Pledge of Allegiance.
AGENDA APPROVED: A motion was made by Alderman Pam Durrett to approve the agenda as printed, seconded by Alderman Doug Durrett. Motion passed.
APPROVAL OF PRINTED MINUTES: A motion to accept the minutes as printed was made by Alderman Pam Durrett, seconded by Alderman Doug Durrett. Motion passed. DISCUSSION OF MUNICIPAL BILLS: Aldermen were provided a report of all checks written to review. Mayor Hendricks asked if there were any questions. All questions were resolved.
PUBLIC COMMENT: NONE
PLANNING & ZONING REPORT: PERMIT # 1071
Permit #1071 for placement of a mobile home at 9287 Highway was denied by the Planning & Zoning Committee per Ordinance. This permit was allowed by motion of Alderman Doug Durrett, a second by Alderman Pam Durrett to place mobile home as requested as long as resident abides by ordinance and connection policies.
APPROVAL LASTEP RECOMMENDATION CONSULTANT/ENGINEER: This project will install new water lines on several streets in the Village of Simsboro. An ad ran in the Ruston Daily Leader to advertise for bids. One bid was received per category for Engineer Design Services-Meyer, Meyer, LeCroix & Hixson scored 100 points; Administrative Consultant Services-Frye - Magee LLC scored 100 points. Mayor asked for questions. There were none. Mayor asked for a motion to appoint Meyer, Meyer, LeCroix & Hixson as Engineer. A motion was made by Alderman Pam Durrett, seconded by Alderman Doug Durrett. Mayor Hendricks asked for a motion to appoint Frye -Magee LLC as Consultant for this project. A motion was made by Alderman Pam Durrett, a second was made by Alderman Doug Durrett. Motion passed
RESOLUTION 11-12 ANNUAL AUDITOR: Mayor Hendricks asked for a motion to adopt Cameron, Hines & Hartt as official auditor for 2011-2012. Motion was made by Alderman Pam Durrett, seconded by Alderman Doug Durrett. Motion passed.
MAYORS REPORT: His report included the following information:1). Safety and Crime Prevention Meeting, Saturday, July 7, 2012 @ 10:00 am at Simsboro Town Hall. 2) Burn Ban in Simsboro-NO FIREWORKS ALLOWED. 3) Analysis is in process by LRWA concerning Sewer Rate Fees.
WATER/SEWER REPORT: Shelby Kelley stated that all services are running smoothly.
Walter Carpenter from Meyer, Meyer, LeCroix & Hixson opened bids for the removal of Sludge from the Village of Simsboro Sewer Treatment plant as advertised. One bid was received from Peck Construction. Amount was read, all questions were answered. Mayor Hendricks requested an authorization to spend the money as needed for this project as needed. A motion was made by Alderman Pam Durrett, seconded by Alderman Doug Durrett to accept this bid. Motion passed. Motion was made by Alderman Pam Durrett, seconded by Alderman Doug Durrett to adjourn Town Hall Meeting. Motion passed. Meeting adjourned at 6:25.M.
