Tigers may have chance at ‘Honey Badger’

If there’s any doubt about the vast number of outstanding players who have come through Grambling State University’s football program through the years, it should be erased with the recent addition of large banners lining the fence adjacent to the Tigers’ practice field. All 38 football representatives in the GSU Legends Hall of Fame are honored with the black and gold banners that carry the players’ name and years he played for the G-Men. Avid GSU athletics’ supporter Sheila Carr helped come up with the idea of adding on the banners to the fence. Among those players honored is Head Coach Doug Williams, who was a two-time All-American during his outstanding career under the late Eddie Robinson.

GRAMBLING — Will the “Honey Badger” find a nest in North Louisiana?
No sooner had Tyrann Mathieu been dismissed from the LSU football team on Friday did the speculation kick off as to where the Heisman Trophy candidate might close out his college career.

In order to play this season, the nation’s top defensive back during the 2011 season and one of the college game’s most exciting players would have to transfer to a Football Championship Series program, one previously listed as Division 1-AA by the NCAA.
