In the more than 60 years she lived in Ruston, LA with her husband, Curt, Mildred raised her two children, helped manage the apartments that her husband built, and was a faithful and devoted member of Temple Baptist Church. In her last years, she resided in Bossier City, LA with her husband and daughter.

“Mema”, as she was known, will be most remembered for her endearing kindness, unwavering generosity, and unconditional love. She always had a warm, comforting smile and sincere words of encouragement. Our beautiful Mema was loved tremendously and we are lesser in her absence. We will never forget her humble but virtuous example of Christian values. Mildred Smelley will be greatly missed.
