Bulldogs clear favorite to capture another WAC title

Wide receiver Quinton Patton (4) figures to make a big leap into the heart of opposing defenses during the 2012 season when he and his Louisiana Tech University teammates go for a second consecutive Western Athletic Conference championship. Patton was tabbed as the preseason Offensive Player of the Year and the Bulldogs as the favorite to repeat with another title during balloting of conference media representatives.

No surprises came out of Thursday’s Western Athletic Conference “Football Media Day” in Las Vegas, Nev., at least not pertaining to who is favored to capture this year’s championship.

That was clear, just as it has been in numerous other preseason polls announced in recent weeks.

Louisiana Tech University was the outright choice to repeat as champs, in polls conducted among head coaches and media outlets who cover league teams.
