The month of July is UV Safety Month. It is well known that ultraviolet radiation is the leading cause of skin cancer. As a dermatologist, I see skin cancer on a daily basis. I also surgically remove many skin cancers every week. I pay close attention to make sure scars are small after removing skin cancer, but I always remind my patients, “The earlier we catch it, the smaller the scar.” It is my sincere hope that this article helps to inform readers of the types of skin cancer, who is at the highest risk and ways to prevent skin cancer.
