Both sides rest in firefighter’s lawsuit against city
The lawsuit, which was filed by the firefighters in Feb. of 2001, addresses firefighter concerns about vacation time, alleged sub-standard pay for engineers, captains and district chief, and “out of class” pay when firefighters of different ranks are required to work as dispatchers.
Testifying on behalf of the city Mayor Dan Hollingsworth also said the city has tried to please the firefighters.
“We’ve tried our best for the past six years to comply with the law as fairly and equitably as we can,” Hollingsworth said. “We hope the court will see that.”
