I am not a product of the public school system. My entire primary and secondary school years were spent in a private school. I do not have children; therefore, for the most part, I am not involved in our current school system.

Growing up, my option for a public education was terrible. I come from a fairly poor, rural parish. For whatever reasons, the school board maintained more schools than necessary throughout the parish for decades. Two high schools were within five miles of each other, one graduating an average of 30 students per year.
