Every year, more than 300 million tennis balls are manufactured globally — 300 million. And, that contributes to about 20,000 tons of waste in landfills. Just because your old tennis balls have lost their bounce doesn’t mean they cannot serve up an extra use or two.

Ruston Parks and Recreation’s Recreation Supervisor Ashlynn J. Shell announces RPAR’s next philanthropic efforts — a Tennis Ball Recycling Initiative. Beginning July 9 through Aug. 24, RPAR will be collecting old tennis balls to be donated to Ruston’s retirement homes, rehabilitation centers, Northern Louisiana Medical Center, Boys and Girls Club, City Animal Shelter and 4 PAWS Rescue.
