Contest serves up some peachy treats
Some of Ruston’s most skilled and creative bakers and cooks showed off their talent at the 2012 Squire Creek Louisiana Peach Festival Cookery Contest, sponsored by the Townsend House.
The contest, divided into youth (6-17) and adult (18 and up) groups, featured three categories each — cobblers, other desserts and other peach dishes. All entries were judged on taste, texture, appearance, peach flavor and creativity.
With a fairly large group of assembled judges, tasting began at around 10 a.m., as the winners were announced shortly before noon.
