GRAMBLING — Lady Luck has sweetly danced with Grambling State University’s football team over the past seven weeks.
But things soured Saturday as she turned the tables and GSU saw a seven-game win streak snapped as Alabama State topped the Tigers 37-23 in Southwestern Athletic Conference action at Eddie G. Robinson Stadium.
The fact the odds caught up to his team wasn’t a shock for GSU coach Broderick Fobbs.
After a one-week hiatus and a record-setting performance, Louisiana Tech has returned to the national rankings as the Bulldogs are billed at 24th in the Associated Press poll announced Sunday.
Tech (6-1, 1-0 Western Athletic) makes just its third appearance in the Associated Press poll in the program’s history. The Bulldogs were ranked No. 23 by the AP two weeks ago leading into the team’s game against then 22nd-ranked Texas A&M, the team’s highest ranking ever. Tech was first ranked in the AP poll in 1999 (No. 25).
