Help celebrate Juneteenth
Every year on June 19, the nation stops to celebrate a special occasion that has long been a memory of freedom for those who were able to be a part of it.
Otherwise known as Juneteenth, Emancipation Day or even Freedom Day, June 19 is more than just another day in a month. It is the official holiday honoring African-American heritage by commemorating the abolition of slavery in the state of Texas.
Since then, the celebration has spread from Texas to all over the United States and right into Lincoln Parish’s own Grambling.
