Today many have the day off in observance of Memorial Day. Many have plans to barbecue, go to a lake or river, spend time lounging by a pool or plan to visit with friends and family.
Although completely acceptable forms of recreation for a day off, individuals across the nation should take a minute to reflect on the meaning of this holiday.

According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs more than 42 million Americans have served during wartime and more than a million gave the ultimate sacrifice of their lives.
