Volunteers to be commended
When I was in elementary school, the only men we ever saw were Dr. Owen, the principal; Mr. Glass, the janitor, and occasionally the milkman. Aside from our teachers, Mrs. Hogan and her lunchroom ladies were the only other women in our school day.
Nobody from the business world, from faith-based groups or civic clubs ever crossed the threshold. If they had, it would probably have been a sure sign that something was bad wrong somewhere.
