THE VILLAGE OF SIMSBORO MONTHLY TOWN HALL MEETING MINUTES MONDAY, APRIL 2, 2012
The Village of Simsboro met in regular session Monday, April 2, 2012 at 6:00 P. M. Council members present were Alderman Pam Durrett, Alderman Doug Durrett and Alderman Tiffany Cole. Mayor Hendricks called the meeting to order. Alderman Pam Durrett voiced the prayer. Mayor Hendricks led in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mayor Hendricks presented the agenda to the Aldermen and asked for a motion to accept as presented. Motion was made by Alderman Pam Durrett, seconded by Alderman Tiffany Cole. Motion passed. The minutes of the March 5, 2012 regular Town Hall Meeting was read. Mayor Hendricks asked if there were any questions or corrections. There were none. A motion was made by Alderman Pam Durrett and seconded by Alderman Doug Durrett to accept the
minutes as read. Motion passed.
PUBLIC COMMENT: There were none.
DISCUSSION OF MUNICIPAL BILLS: Aldermen were provided a report of all checks written to review. Mayor Hendricks asked if there were any questions. There were none.
FINANCIAL REPORT: Doug Brewer was not present. No financial report. Mayor Hendricks stated that Mary Beth McCullen will start picking up the monthly Financial Statement for the Aldermen's review.
DISCUSSION OF ORDINANCE 02-07-SCHEDULE OF FINES-Concerning fines for parking violations in regard to blocking driveways, highways and streets. Notification will be sent to citizens to make them aware of this ordinance. Lincoln Parish Sheriff's Department will be given this ordinance so they will also be able to issue a summons for infraction of this ordinance.
RESOLUTION 02-12-VILLAGE ATTORNEY-Mayor Hendricks read the resolution then presented it to the Alderman for the approval of Kyle Green as attorney for The Village of Simsboro. Motion to adopt Resolution 02-12 approving Kyle Green as attorney for the Village of Simsboro was made by Alderman Pam Durrett, seconded by Alderman Doug Durrett. Motion passed. Roll call: YEA; Alderman Pam Durrett, Alderman Tiffany Cole and Alderman Doug Durrett.
MAYOR'S REPORT: Mayor Hendricks reported on the
LASTEP Project, which will enable The Village of Simsboro to improve the older water lines with the labor being provided by the citizens of Simsboro willing to volunteer their time and services. This project will replace older lines on Louisa, Madden and Braswell. Meyer & Meyer will be the contractor and project manager on this and our part is providing the laborers. Town Hall Meeting on this LASTEP Project is scheduled on Tuesday, April 10 at 6:00 p.m. to answer any questions from the citizens by a representative from the LASTEP Program.
RENOVATION- Mayor Hendricks is waiting on word from Baton Rouge.
ANIMAL CONTROL ORDINANCE 01-08- Citizens were sent a letter with a copy of the ordinance to inform the citizens of this ordinance in hopes that all will adhere to this ordinance so that the citizens will not be involved in any actions taken.
PROCLAMATION “FAIR HOUSING MONTH” as April 2012;
PROCLAMATION “SIMSBORO “TIGER” BASKET BALL TEAM DAY” as April 2, 2012;
PROCLAMATION “AUTISM AWARENESS DAY” April 2, 2012.)
SHRUBS CLEAN-UP DAY- Annual Clean-Up Day is April 28, 2012. All volunteers will be provided with items needed to achieve success of this project. Simsboro High School will be participating in the clean-up as a service project for the students.
WATER/SEWER REPORT: Shelby Kelley reported the water & sewer is doing good. Cranford Street has been completed with old water lines being replaced with new ones. With money left from this project, Allen Street will receive new lines also. LASTEP will be a great improvement for the village water service, by replacing the rest of the older lines on the north side of town.
PLANNING & ZONING REPORT: No permits submitted.
Motion was made by Alderman Pam Durrett, seconded by Alderman Doug Durrett to adjourn Town Hall Meeting. Motion passed.
