Former Cedar Creek High School star Ashley Aldredge won the Southland Conference javelin championship with a throw of 151-8.

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Northwestern State University freshman Ashley Aldredge had never been so nervous, while her junior teammate Janae Allen had never been so good, and the two combined to score 16 points Friday on the opening day of the three-day Southland Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Aldredge, a former All-American and state record-setting performer at Cedar Creek High, overcame a painful injury and rallied to win the women’s javelin by eight feet with a 151-8 throw.
