Ruston native Tracy Brockman won a songwriter’s competition, which awarded her a promotional contract and $40,000 worth of musical equipment.

Tracy Brockman, a Ruston native, recently won a songwriters’ competition, which included more than 2,500 contestants from 30 cities in eight different states. Brockman, a songwriter for more than a decade, who has recorded two CDs, won first place in The Songwriters contest for her song, “Home Away From Home.”

“It was an amazing experience,” Brockman said. “I met so many incredibly talented songwriters and musicians, and each of them had a story. I loved being a part of such a rich and gifted group. And the hosts of The Songwriters competition, Grammy-award-winner Brad Davis and producer/announcer Rick Parent, were so encouraging to everyone. We all learned so much, and we were all so affirmed in the process.”
