Hideaway Park applies for FHA grant for trails

Tech is looking to improve Garland Gregory Hideaway Park through a grant they are applying for through the Federal Highway Administration.

Even with a Frisbee golf course, a lake and plenty of picnic tables and pavilions, Hideaway Park is looking at an even bigger facelift thanks to Louisiana Tech University.

Approved by the Ruston city aldermen in a special meeting last week, Tech received support to apply for a grant for Hideaway Park through the Federal Highway Administration to complete recreational trails nestled behind the Thomas Assembly Center in the park.

Tech Director of Recreation Bob Dowling said the $96,000 grant would go toward extending the trail at the park.
