The importance of vote casting
In 2008, I joined approximately 43 percent of the U.S. population in not showing up to cast my ballot and tell the world who I thought should lead us.
My reason (read: excuse) was that I was still registered in my hometown of Pineville, rather than in Ruston where I’d been living since 2006. And, since I worked in Monroe at the time, I couldn’t drive all the way to Pineville to cast my vote.
Never mind that absentee voting or early voting was an option. Never mind that I really should have thought to register to vote in the place where I actually lived.
