Helpful glossary of important equity terms

Our last column introduced some basic terms commonly used in the purchase and sale of equities, or stocks. In this column, we will expand the list with a handful of more sophisticated, but equally important, terms.

• Capitalization — Total value of the various securities issued by a corporation, including preferred and common stock, bonds, debentures and other securities.
