LHSAA event to impact Ruston
The Ruston Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau wasn’t planning on hosting this year’s Louisiana High School Athletic Association Boys and girls basketball finals. In fact, not until mid-November did the CVB know that the possibility of bringing the “Top 28 “to Ruston even existed.
That’s when the already-awarded bid made by the now-defunct Shreveport Regional Sports Authority to hold the tournament in Bossier City fell apart. The LHSAA pulled the tournament from the Shreveport area, citing costs it would have had to pay for the arena.
Immediately, the athletic association began negotiating with other sites, including Ruston.
