In Louisiana alone, the statistics are astounding. According to www.avert.org, more than 7,600 people are living with HIV and more than 7,400 are living with AIDS. In the United States, more than 404,000 people have AIDS. Those numbers are staggering, but in other countries, the numbers are even higher.

In sub-Saharan Africa, an estimated 24.5 million adults and children were living with HIV at the end of 2005, according to www.avert.org.
This is a bigger problem than most people want to admit.
