Ruston High School’s eight-game winning Bearcats sent two of its 2011 stars on to the collegiate ranks last week when offensive lineman Justin Miller (left photo, dark uniform) signed an NCAA national letter-of-intent with Grambling State University and defensive back Kentrell Brice (right photo, white uniform) inked with Louisiana Tech University.

Never, in the long history of recruiting, has there ever been a head coach who proclaimed a lousy signing class.

If there has been, then somebody needs to dial up the NCAA and complain about that coach bucking a trend that has come to be expected as much as the rating stars placed besides each signee’s name.

In a jovial statement made in front of an estimated 400 Louisiana Tech University fans at a National Signing Day luncheon at the Ruston Civic Center last week, Bulldogs’ Head Coach Sonny Dykes quipped that, “just once, I’d like to hear a coach say we got our tails kicked on signing day’.”
