Pictured from left to right are the Director of Tech’s School of Architecture Karl Puljak, Terrance Dodson, Daisy Hargrove-Jones, Jasmine Dodson, LaQuanta Hargrove and Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors President Nancy Bergeron as they break ground on Hargrove’s new home.

One Ruston family was jubilant on Saturday as they broke ground and began the journey to owning their very first home.

Building LaQuanta Hargrove and her family a new home is part of the annual habiTech project, which gives Louisiana Tech University architecture students a chance to get out of the classrooms and into the real world. They work with the family and the North Central Louisiana Habitat for Humanity organization to design and build a family a home each year. This is the 20th house built by the local Habitat for Humanity group, and the seventh built in conjunction with HabiTech.
