Basketball tournaments to bounce up

Get ready. In the event that you have missed the story announced some time ago, Ruston will be hosting both the girls and boys state championship basketball tournament. It may sound a little early to be commenting on this, as the dates are March 8-10. The tournaments start on Thursday and end Saturday. The reason I mention this here, though, is to remind people of the pride in our community and the tremendous impact this will have here and elsewhere.

I know that it is dangerous and difficult to single out any one person. But I do want to mention one name, Kyle Edmiston, who is the current president and CEO of the Ruston-Lincoln Parish Convention and Visitors Bureau. I have received very good indication that Kyle was actively involved in seeking and landing this tournament, as were many others. But with any great idea, there is often a point person driving the project.
