Norway suffered from a nationwide butter shortage last month. Meanwhile in America, as Stephen Colbert put it, we have so many types of butter “that we have produced a product called I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter, because if you pick up any random object in the United States, there’s a good chance it’s butter.”

Paula Deen has been the butt of butter jokes since her rise to fame on the Food Network in 2002. It doesn’t help that she has a recipe for fried butter balls that includes two sticks of butter and two ounces of cream cheese. This recipe is just one of dozens known for their high grease, sugar or fat content.
