Attendees of the Lincoln Parish Schools State of the District have a bite to eat prior to the event at the Library Events Center.

Superintendent of Schools Danny Bell said the Lincoln Parish School district has come a long way in the past year, but still has quite a bit to achieve before it reaches the goals set forth for the coming years.

School officials, political figures and community members from throughout the parish gathered for a light lunch Tuesday in the Lincoln Parish Library Events Center before digging into the state of the Lincoln Parish educational status. The event is the second annual State of the District, sprung from an idea suggested by the Ruston 21 Education Committee to keep residents abreast of the issues facing the school system. Bell gave a picture of the accomplishments of 2011, as well as the challenges for 2012.
