Tigers seek to improve on No. 10 state ranking tonight

Daniel Ogunyemi (with basketball) will be trying to soar high for Simsboro High School tonight when the No. 10 Class B state ranked Tigers play host to Forest High School. A junior who ranked among Louisiana’s top underclassmen during the 2010-11 season, Ogunyemi scored 11 points in a 57-52 early week victory over defending Class C state champ Pleasant Hill.

Can Simsboro High can move up in the second weekly Louisiana Sports Writers Association boys’ basketball poll?

Off to one of the best starts in the school’s storied history for the sport, the Tigers are ranked No. 10 in the first weekly Louisiana Sports Writers Association poll for Class B programs.

Next assignment: tonight, at home, against Forest High in the second of two games set for the SHS gymnasium, where the women’s teams from the two schools will tip off the action at 6 p.m.
