Lewis emphasizes King’s work to pave the way

The Rev. Clifton E. Lewis spoke on the great sacrifice King made to serve people during the annual GSU vesper service.

GRAMBLING — The many marches Martin Luther King Jr. did during his lifetime were powerful statements meant to spur social change in America, and Monday night, on the celebration of King’s birthday, Grambling resident Gloria North was able to commemorate King in a march of her own.

“It may not be on the streets of Alabama, but it is here in Grambling, and we are all gathered to continue to see if we can push (King’s) legacy even further,” she said. “We are trying to pay tribute to one of the greatest leaders in American history by taking a walk in his shoes, so to speak, even if it is just for a little while.”
