A graveside service for Mr. Howell R. “Dale” Tatum, Jr. age 62 of Ruston, will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Choudrant Memorial Cemetery in Choudrant.  Rev. Jerry Whitman will officiate the service.  The service is under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

Mr. Tatum was born January 28, 1949 in Laurel, Mississippi.  He died December 29, 2011 in Shreveport after a brief illness.  Mr. Tatum was a graduate of Ruston High School and attended Louisiana Tech University where he studied architecture.  He was a masonry contractor by trade.  In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, enjoyed gardening, feeding and watching deer, was a fan of LSU football and the New Orleans Saints and also enjoyed watching movies especially “Secretariat”.

Mr. Tatum is survived by his wife Shelley Tatum; his children:  Todd Tatum, Brad Tatum and his wife Amanda, Annie Tatum and Husband Mark Norris, William Tatum and wife Roxi, Catlin Tatum and Lindsey and husband John Vondenstein; nine grandchildren, his mother:  Lorraine Tatum; his brother Donald “Dee” Tatum, his niece:  Leah Tatum, as well as his aunts, uncles and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his father Howell R. Tatum, Sr.
