Airwaves abound with D.A.R.T. voices
“The very first time we had it, we only raised a few thousand dollars, and last year we raised $17,000,” she said.
“That really surprised us because (Hurricane) Katrina had just happened. But it continually amazes us how people come out to support us.”
Dance said the money raised goes into the organization’s general fund and helps to provide things that are not covered by grants — rent, utilities, operation and other costs of the offices in the four outlying parishes.
She said money raised in a parish stays in that parish.
