Some big changes are on the horizon for South Ruston, and others are already in progress.

The long-term plan for the city is to extend Martin Luther King Drive from where it currently dead-ends just west of Farmerville Street, so that it will eventually connect with U.S. Highway 167.

City Construction Projects Supervisor John Freeman said once the city acquires the last portion of right-of-way to complete the project, which he hopes will be in January, officials will aggressively pursue state and federal funding options for the $1.8 million project.
